Steel Challenge is a game of speed, precision and consistency, and the gear you choose can make or break your performance. When SIG Sauer drops a firearm that screams “race-ready” right out of the box, you pay attention. Enter the SIG Sauer P322-COMP, a rimfire pistol that takes everything you love about the P322 platform and cranks it up to 11.

This pistol isn’t just another range plinker, it’s tailored for action shooting. The compensator-equipped barrel, the slide-mounted racker, 25-round magazine, extended controls and the included ROMEOZero ELITE optic make it a strong contender for Steel Challenge’s Open Rimfire Pistol division.

BUILT FOR THE GAME: WHY THE P322-COMP STANDS OUT

In Steel Challenge, the clock is your enemy. Every fraction of a second matters. That’s where the P322-COMP’s features shine.

COMPENSATOR-EQUIPPED BARREL

Let’s face it: recoil might be minimal with .22 LR, but muzzle rise can still cost you tenths. The integrated barrel-mounted compensator keeps the muzzle flat during rapid strings. Transitioning from plate to plate feels effortless, and staying on target between shots is noticeably easier.

ROMEOZERO ELITE RED DOT

SIG didn’t just slap on a generic optic. The ROMEOZero ELITE 3-MOA red dot is factory installed and co-witnessed with the high-visibility fiber-optic front sight. The dot is crisp, the glass is clear and target acquisition is lightning fast. In Steel Challenge, where first-shot speed matters, this optic setup is a game changer.

SLIDE-MOUNTED RACKER

Malfunctions, while rare with proper maintenance and ammunition, can still happen in rimfire. The racker makes clearing the slide fast and intuitive. It’s also great for quick administrative handling without breaking your grip or fumbling with the slide serrations.

EXTENDED MAGAZINE RELEASE AND SPORT TAKEDOWN LEVER

In competition, you don’t want to be adjusting your grip to hit the mag release. SIG’s extended magazine catch is responsive and accessible without shifting your hold. Combined with the sport takedown lever, you get a platform that’s easy to operate under stress and maintain between stages.

HIGH-CAPACITY MAGAZINES, 20 AND 25 ROUNDS

Steel Challenge strings are five shots each, with a maximum of 25 shots per stage. The 25-round magazine means you can shoot multiple strings without reloading and breaking your rhythm on a stage. Fewer reloads and more focus on your performance. Plus, the included 20-round magazine gives you options. Two mags can get you through a stage.

GRIP, SIZE AND ERGONOMICS

Weighing in at just 17 ounces and featuring a compact polymer frame, the P322-COMP balances comfortably in the hand. The included flat and curved trigger shoes let you tailor the feel to your preference. This level of customization is rarely found in this price range.

RACE-READY LOOKS AND BUILD QUALITY

Let’s not ignore aesthetics of the two-tone competition slide, clear anodized alloy finish and carbon steel barrel, which make this gun look like it belongs on the line next to any high-dollar race gun. But it’s not just looks—it’s built to take abuse and keep running.

HOW IT STACKS UP IN STEEL CHALLENGE

Whether you’re shooting Steel Challenge Rimfire Pistol Open division or looking to train without breaking the ammunition budget, the P322-COMP delivers on every front. The optic, comp and mag capacity give you the edge to compete at the top. It’s reliable, affordable and loaded with the features competitors need without aftermarket add-ons. This is a ready-to-run rimfire race gun.

SIG Sauer continues to innovate in the competition shooting space, and the P322-COMP is proof they’re listening to what shooters want. This isn’t just another plinker—it’s a purpose-built .22 built to dominate Steel Challenge. Whether you’re a seasoned Grand Master looking for a training platform or a C-class shooter ready to step up, the P322-COMP belongs in your range bag.

MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) is $650. For more on the P322-COMP, visit sigsauer.com.
