The 1911 is America’s pistol. It was designed here, carried by American soldiers through every major conflict of the 20th century and it’s still the gun every other pistol gets measured against. So when Wilson Combat wanted to mark 250 years of American independence, there wasn’t really a decision to make about the platform.
The America 250th Limited Edition 1911 Series starts the way any Wilson Combat 1911 does—as a full custom build in all domestically sourced stainless steel. What makes this one different is the engraving, a pattern created just for the United States Semiquincentennial that won’t appear on anything else the company makes.
Who does the engraving depends on where your pistol falls in the run. The first 25 go to Wayne D’Angelo, a master engraver with one of the best reputations in the business, who cuts the slide and frame by hand. Those 25 are the ones collectors will fight over. Everything from Serial 26 on gets the same design applied in-house by laser, which keeps the look of the hand-cut originals but puts the series within reach of a lot more buyers.
Underneath, it’s a proper Wilson Combat. You get a 5-inch barrel with fluted chamber, magazine well, ambidextrous safety, carry beavertail, carry cuts and hand-checkered rear slide. The flats are left bare—no model markings, nothing to compete with the engraving. A white-gold bead front sight, glass-beaded rounds and deluxe satin-polished flats round it out, and every pistol ships with a unique serialized frame.
The laser-engraved version runs $6,999.95. The hand-engraved edition is $11,999.95. Orders stay open through December 31, 2026, availability is limited to select configurations and when the books close, they close for good.
