Committed to supporting the youth shooting sports, Winchester is now the official ammunition of the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP). The SCTP national shooting team will also be using Winchester shells.

Helping grow youth participation in the shooting sports is always welcome, and Winchester is wise to partner with SCTP. With 16,000 student-athletes participating in SCTP trap, skeet and sporting clay leagues last year, the organization supports the positive trend of young people increasingly choosing clay target as their shooting sport of choice. Last year, over 2,000 young people competed at the SCTP National Championship at the Cardinal Center in Marengo, OH.

Most importantly, each SCTP discipline includes well-trained adult coaches that focus on firearms safety, as well as foster a supportive environment. Currently, there are over 4,000 coaches working with SCTP student-athletes.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for Winchester to work with an organization that helps thousands of coaches and athletes participate in the youth shooting sports each year," says Matt Campbell, vice president of sales and marketing for Winchester Ammunition.

SCTP shooters and the national team are in good company. For example, NRA Board Member and six-time Olympic medalist Kim Rhode shoots Winchester AA shotshells exclusively.

The first competition for the SCTP national team this year is the USA Shooting Spring selection match at Tucson Trap and Skeet in Tucson, AZ, Feb. 25 through Mar. 10.

"Athletes and coaches on the SCTP national team are excited to have the Winchester Ammunition brand and products as part of the team's events and camps as well as at the USA Shooting Spring and Fall Selection Matches and State and National Junior Olympic matches across the country," says Tom Wondrash, SCTP national executive director.
