Competitive clay shooters at the 2019 NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits had their first chance to get an up-close look at the new Benelli 828U Sport over/under shotgun (#10730$4,399), which is designed and built for competitive scattergun lovers.

An enhanced version of its first over-and-under shotgun, the 828U Sport features improved ergonomics and features clay shooters will appreciate. Built around a steel receiver for added heft, the 12-gauge shotgun's grip angle and comb height work in conjunction with the wider carbon-fiber rib and sight channel to deliver a sporting shotgun that points fast and swings smooth.

The 30-inch, anti-glare matte-finish barrel is solder-free and comes with a channeled raised rib and white-colored front sight bead. The 828U Sport includes shims that offer 40 different combinations of drop and cast for that coveted customized fit. And for reliability, the Lock Plate closing system eliminates mechanical stress at the break action. The removable trigger group features an improved pull weight and an adjustable trigger position.

Total length is 47.25 inches, and the weight is 8.05 pounds.

The satin finished stock and fore-end are built from AA-grade walnut. In addition to the five chokes, the 828U Sport comes with the aforementioned drop and cast shims, weights, trigger tool, choke wrench, oil and owner's manual. Each gun comes in a plastic case with a separate case for the chokes.
