Pro shooter Doug Koenig recently won three Carry Optics Division titles at the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) Area 3, 7 and 8 matches. All three competitions were held within the past thirty days, beginning with Area 3 in Grand Island, NE, Area 8 in New Tripoli, PA and Area 7 in Harvard, MA. Koenig skillfully dominated the stages at each competition, shooting Hornady 115-grain XTP bullets in his Smith & Wesson M&P C.O.R.E. pistol. For an optic, he used a Leupold DeltaPoint Pro Reflex sight.

Koenig’s off season training incorporated various shooting sport workout drills that simulated the running and gunning of the challenging courses of fire that he would be facing.

“Adding USPSA matches to my competition schedule the past two seasons has been a lot of fun for me. I’ve enjoyed returning to my roots of when I initially began shooting competitively,” said Koenig.

He will close out the 2017 competition season with the upcoming East Coast Steel Challenge and the USPSA Iron Sights National Championships. Next month, Koenig will make his debut as an NSSF Fantasy Camp instructor in Las Vegas, NV.

Koenig’s list of achievements and championship wins is impressive as he approaches his 30th year of competing. He began shooting competitively at 17, winning both regional and national competitions. In 1990, Koenig turned professional as a competitor and the decision paid off—scoring an unprecedented perfect score at the NRA Bianchi Cup the same year. He became the Bianchi Cup Champion a record-breaking 18th time this past May in Columbia, MO.

Earlier this year, Koenig was the Match Director at the 30th anniversary Sportsman’s Team Challenge event in Nebraska.

His TV show, “Doug Koenig’s Championship Season” promotes the outdoor lifestyle for families, great hunting and shooting tips and demonstrating exactly what it takes to become a world-class professional champion.
