After its introduction earlier this year, the Winchester Ladies Cup crowned the 2021 champion following the conclusion of the National Sporting Clays Nationals on October 31 in San Antonio, Texas. Karen Shedd took top honors as the 2021 Winchester Ladies Cup Overall Champion with a score of 133, with Madison Sharpe in second place with 113 and Desirae Edmunds taking third place with 108.

The Winchester Ladies Cup is a yearlong tour with seven major sporting clays regional championships, plus the championship finale. The grand total combined the top five main, top five NSCA 5-Stand and top five F.I.T.A.S.C. event points.

Regarding her 2021 Winchester Ladies Cup victory, Karen Shedd said:

“Winchester has gone out of their way to support the women of our sport this year. They have given me and all women in this sport something more to shoot for. It has been an honor to be able to compete for the Winchester Ladies Cup, and I hope they continue it for years to come!”

For its inaugural year, the Winchester Ladies Cup brought big money to the table. The top three shooters at each regional event split $5,000 ($2,500 to the champion, $1,500 to the runner-up and $1,000 to third place), which was paid out by Winchester. And during the grand finale in San Antonio, $10,000 in cash was split among the top three female competitors who headlined the full-season point race.

“A lot of thinking went into the Winchester Ladies Cup, and it started by looking at the current payout structure between the top male shooters and the top female shooters,” said Brett Flaugher, the president of Winchester Ammunition. “There was a big difference in their earnings with the payout to the female winners being significantly lower.”

Winchester's new event also helped increase female attendance at NSCA matches this year.

“The Winchester Ladies Cup has succeeded in drawing attention and excitement to the continually growing group of female clay target shooters,” said Team Winchester’s Desirae Edmunds, who helped shape the structure of the Winchester Ladies Cup. “These types of opportunities and rewards have never been available for female shooters in this sport before. I am grateful and proud to stand by Winchester and their continued support of our industry.”
