After many months of collaboration with Federal, JP Rifles has announced the adoption of Federal’s new long range cartridge, the .224 Valkyrie. JP expects great results as shooters adopt this new cartridge, especially for those shooting a JP-built rifle or a home-built one.

JP wants to provide options for hunters and long range competitive shooters planning to use the new .224 Valkyrie cartridge. In addition to their EnhancedBolt assembly for 6.8 SPC II and .224 Valkyrie, JP will be releasing three new Supermatch barrel contours to support this new caliber. All the barrels have 1:7 twist. The two 20-inch barrels have light-weight and medium-weight contours, respectively. The 22-inch barrel has medium-weight contour. Additionally, all three contours feature an XL gas port position for better dwell time and reduction of pressure issues.

Each of these new Supermatch offerings will be available in complete rifles and upper assemblies. They also may be purchased seperately as component barrels and complete barrel kits. This includes choice of gas system and muzzle device pre-installed. Both component barrel options will also include an individual head-spaced EnhancedBolt assembly.

Extensive JP testing of the .224 throughout 2017 determined that factory 90-grain Sierra MatchKing yielded 2650 fps out of a 20-inch barrel with a G1 ballistic coefficient of .531.

“This new round is a serious paradigm shift for the AR-15 platform,” said JP founder, John Paul. “In testing, consistent 1000-yard (or more) hits are very achievable.”

Complete rifle and assembly builds will be available in January 2018. JP is currently accepting orders.
