C-More Systems has long been a staple in the competition shooting world, known for delivering cutting-edge optics that blend durability with precision performance. The company’s latest offering—the RTS3—is a comprehensive redesign that elevates the standard set by its predecessor, the RTS2. Far from a simple upgrade, the RTS3 redefines what a competition-grade red-dot optic can be. It underwent extensive testing in the hands of professional shooters, proving its worth with a first-place overall victory at the 2024 USPSA Carry Optics National Championship with Eric Grauffel’s win.

A Redesigned Lens For Unparalleled Visibility

Bigger is better. One of the standout features of the C-More RTS3 is its larger performance-coated aspherical lens. This lens offers an expansive and distortion-free field of view, facilitating rapid target acquisition from the draw and seamless transitions between targets. The enhanced clarity and generous sight picture make it a perfect fit for competitive shooters who rely on speed and precision. In contrast, the RTS2 featured a smaller lens that, while effective, did not offer the same level of peripheral awareness.

Built Tough: A Reinforced Housing and Integrated Base Plate

The RTS3’s body is constructed from aircraft-grade alloy, making it more resilient to harsh conditions and heavy recoil. This housing is reinforced compared to the RTS2, enhancing its ability to withstand the wear and tear of slide-mounted applications. C-More also added an integrated base plate for additional strength and stability.

Another significant improvement is the new aluminum battery tray. This tray not only facilitates easy battery changes without dismounting the sight—thus eliminating the need to re-zero—but also contributes to the RTS3’s IPX7 waterproof rating. The tray is O-ring sealed, providing an extra layer of protection against the elements.

Superior Emitter Technology

C-More has introduced a high-performance point source LED emitter in the RTS3, designed to deliver high brightness levels with exceptional power efficiency. The emitter is protected by a robust shield, ensuring consistent brightness over time. This innovation marks a notable improvement over the RTS2, which lacked the same level of emitter protection. The RTS3’s dot is available in three-, six- and nine-MOA sizes, allowing shooters to choose the configuration that best fits their needs, whether for fast-paced stages or precise long-range shots.

Motion Sensing System and User Controls

One of the other new features of the RTS3 is the Motion Sensing System (MSS), also known as “Shake to Wake.” When no motion or vibration is detected for three minutes, the sight automatically enters standby mode to conserve battery life. The dot reactivates instantly with the slightest movement. The RTS3 also introduces a programmable auto-off feature, set to default at four hours of inactivity. However, users have the option to disable this feature, keeping the sight in MSS mode indefinitely.

The RTS3’s manual controls include a 12-position push-button switch for precise brightness adjustments. This ensures that the sight returns to the previous intensity setting upon reactivation—a thoughtful addition for competitors who need consistent brightness in varying lighting conditions

Battery Life and Reliability

The RTS3 runs on a CR2032 lithium battery, boasting an impressive 50,000-hour battery life at level four intensity. The reinforced electronics are hardened to handle high recoil forces, making the RTS3 a robust option for use with large-caliber firearms. Additionally, the windage and elevation adjustments offer one-MOA click increments and feature an internal locking mechanism, eliminating the need for external locking screws.

Compatibility and Installation

The RTS3 follows the C-More STS2 footprint, meaning it is compatible with existing STS2 and RTS2 mounts. However, it does not come with a mount out of the box. Instead, users can choose to install it with a C-More mounting kit, an aftermarket option, or a custom mount. The included screws (8-32x1/2 and M4x12) simplify installation across various platforms.

The RTS2 has been a reliable choice for competition shooters for years, but the new RTS3 offers substantial upgrades.

  • Lens Size and Coating: The RTS3’s aspherical lens provides a broader, clearer view.
  • Housing: The RTS3’s reinforced alloy housing and integrated base plate enhance durability.
  • Emitter Protection: The RTS3’s LED shield ensures the dot remains bright over time.
  • Battery Access: The RTS3’s aluminum battery tray allows for quick changes without dismounting.
  • Advanced Electronics: The RTS3 features hardened electronics, MSS technology and programmable auto-off, which were not present in the RTS2.

The C-More RTS3 represents a significant leap forward in red-dot technology for C-More, combining rugged durability with intuitive functionality. Its larger lens, reinforced housing and advanced electronics make it an indispensable tool for competitive shooters seeking an edge. By addressing the limitations of the RTS2 and adding modern innovations like the MSS and improved emitter protection, C-More has created a red dot that excels in both performance and reliability.

Whether you’re competing at the national level or refining your skills at the range, the RTS3 is definitely one that you should consider, and shows C-More’s commitment to excellence. With a 30-year warranty to back it up, this optic is built to perform—and endure.
