Earlier this year, the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) began to evaluate adding a provisional Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC) division to the sport. Rules were developed and released for comment from the general membership during the evaluation.

Today, USPSA President Mike Foley made the following announcement:

As of July 1, 2016, the provisional PCC division will be available for all levels of USPSA competition. PCC competition is already spreading like wildfire. Many USPSA clubs have been running carbines for years as an unrecognized division. PCC remains an optional offering at the discretion of USPSA Match Directors.

Current Practiscore and EZWinscore scoring systems are PCC compliant and uploading PCC scores and classifiers already. Classifier scores submitted to USPSA during the soft rollout in June will count toward member classification. Current USPSA classifier written stage briefings on the USPSA webpage have been updated to include a start position for Pistol Caliber Carbines.

Appendix D8 has been added to the online rulebook, and a rules addendum has been added to the rules page.

Thanks to all who participated in the beta tests, rules discussions, and rollout.

Mike Foley
USPSA President
