Ginny Thrasher, the 2016 Rio Olympics gold medalist and top air rifle and smallbore shooter, has been selected as one of the 2020 NCAA Today's Top 10 Award honorees. The former West Virginia University (WVU) rifle team standout received the high accolade from the NCAA Honors Committee on Tuesday, Dec. 16 2019. Notably, she is the first rifle shooter ever to earn this distinction. The top 10 nominees were drawn from all sports and divisions.

A standout member of the WVU rifle team from 2015 to 2019, Thrasher was a 2019 NCAA Woman of the Year finalist and graduated with a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering this past May.

Earlier this year, Thrasher concluded her collegiate shooting career with three All-America First Team nods, which raised her total All-America count to 12. She won the NCAA individual national championships in both smallbore and air rifle in 2016, led WVU to two team national championships in 2016 and 2017—additionally earning five individual GARC conference titles. Last but not least, she was the first gold-medal winner at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janiero.
