“Hillsdale’s shooting sports program attracts skilled and dedicated athletes, and Kayla’s achievement is an exciting milestone for the team,” said Adam Burlew, head coach of the Hillsdale College Action Shooting Team. “We were excited to host this competition with Springfield Armory again this year, and we look forward to more in the future.”

Held at the John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center, the 2025 competition drew 53 shooters from around the country, including squads from Texas A&M, the Naval Academy, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Michigan State. The course featured 10 USPSA stages, with competitors split into two divisions—Limited and Limited Optics—and the kind of fast-paced precision that rewards composure as much as speed.

Hillsdale College delivered across the board. The team notched second-place finishes in both divisions. In Limited Optics, Hillsdale’s team of John Beecher, Joseph Grohs, Jonah Kirstein and Brendan Burnham racked up 3840.84 points. In the Limited division, Mullin teamed up with Clara Bozzay, Jianna Coppola and Joseph Beecher for another second-place podium finish with a combined 2513.48 points.
