While it looks easy, Metal Madness can be a challenge to nearly any competitive shooter.

The MidwayUSA Foundation has joined forces with Metal Madness and will be at Grand Rivers Shooting Range in Grand Rivers, Kentucky, on September 14 to conduct a fundraiser match for the endowment program of your choice.

Metal Madness
The Metal Madness/MidwayUSA Foundation fundraiser match will be held at Grand Rivers Shooting Range in Grand Rivers, Ky., on Sept. 14, 2024.

This one-of-a-kind fundraiser is billed as a fun and exciting action shooting contest for the whole family. All that attend will enjoy a day of shooting and camaraderie while raising awareness and support for youth shooting sports.

Like all MidwayUSA Foundation events, each entry donation will benefit a youth shooting endowment of your choice and will be matched through the MidwayUSA Foundation Matching Program.

More about Metal Madness: A speed and accuracy-based shooting discipline, Metal Madness competition has shooters using rimfire rifles or pistols to fire at steel plates. Each competitor shoots 10 stages, moving to a new shooting lane for each string. Each lane has randomized numbered metal plates, which must be shot in numerical order. Scoring is time-based, plus penalties for missed plates or shooting plates out of sequence. With misses costing two seconds each, hitting plates in the proper order is important. The eight fastest times from 10 lanes fired are added together for each shooter’s bracket time. Metal Madness provides a great atmosphere for shooters, young and old, to push their skills. The layout of the event, meanwhile, means that target transitions can be practiced in an environment of friendly competition that is safe, yet still challenging.

At the fundraising match on September 14, every $25 donation to the endowment of your choice is good for one entry—one round of Metal Madness. As mentioned, during each round, competitors will fire through 10 different shooting lanes, with each lane featuring multiple steel targets to hit.

Plus, there is no limit on the number of entries. Competitors may participate in multiple rounds, with either the same firearm or changing to a different one. Remember that a $25 donation is required for each entry.

No special firearm or equipment is required to participate in Metal Madness competition, with all .22 caliber firearms welcome for this particular match.

Perhaps best of all, the .22 rimfire ammunition required to participate in this fundraising event will be provided to shooters.
