Winchester has been honoring the anniversary of World War II with special Victory Series ammunition, using period correct load specifications and special head stamps. There will be two new offerings in the Victory series this year: .30 Carbine (M1 Carbine) beginning in June, and 12-gauge (1897 Trench Gun) ammo coming this November.

All ammunition in the Victory Series comes packaged in special collector's cartons and wood boxes.

The .30 Carbine ammo is loaded to the same specs used on D-Day by paratroopers jumping into Normandy, as well as other periods in the war.

The 12-gauge shells feature period correct brass hulls. These shells have not been commercially available from Winchester for decades (displaced by plastic). During WWII, paper hulls that were commonly used for shotshells didn't fare well in the wet, rugged battlefield conditions. Thus, Winchester provided full-length brass cased buckshot shells for trench fighting and close quarters combat.

Both the .30 Carbine and 12-gauge offerings in the Victory Series will sell for about $25-$30 per box.
