Manufactured in Germany from forged (not cast) steel, the new Gunsmith Vise from Brownells (MSRP: $399) features precision-aligned jaws with hardened faces and, according to the company, “provides the strength, precision and durability needed to master any project, elevating any gunsmithing setup to new heights.”

Brownells recently launched its new Gunsmith Vise, which the company describes as “a superior, heavy-duty bench vise designed to meet the exacting needs of professional gunsmiths and enthusiasts alike.”

Forged in Germany, the new Brownells Gunsmith Vise is engineered to handle the most demanding tasks with precision and reliability.

The base jaws can be unbolted and replaced, and are also reversible.

Forged from high-grade steel, this bench vise is built to last. The forging process ensures exceptional strength. Plus, 4¾-inch jaws are precision-aligned with hardened steel faces, capable of withstanding high torque without flexing, making it ideal for removing or installing barrels.

The base jaws of the vise are reversible and replaceable, with both smooth and “checkered” texture faces available. In addition, there are magnetic jaw inserts (available separately) that provide additional customization for specific work. The vise can be bolted directly to a workbench or used with optional rotating bases for added flexibility.

The new Gunsmith Vise strikes a solid balance between size and functionality. Large enough for major jobs, it’s also compact enough not to overcrowd a workbench. The green finish is an homage to the classic Brownells Multi-Vise, and this protective coating also guards against corrosion.

The vise also features a centrally positioned spindle with a double-action, rolled trapezoidal thread. Electro-galvanized for corrosion resistance, the spindle assembly includes a precision spindle bearing and forged spindle nut. The zinc spindle key, with riveted safety rings, can be adjusted via a single screw.

MSRP for the new Brownells Gunsmith Vise is $399. Go to brownells.com.
