Rachel Martin Hired As Nebraska Rifle Coach

Here is some news that will come as no surprise to intercollegiate rifle fans: talented rifle shooter Rachel Martin is returning to her alma mater as the new head coach for the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers rifle team.

Martin graduated from Nebraska in 2017 and will be the sixth head coach in school rifle program history. She replaces former head coach Ashley MacAllister. Previously, Martin served as assistant coach at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where she helped the rifle team reach the 2019 NCAA championship, the first such appearance for the program in four years.

From 2014 to 2017, Martin was a dominant force on the Nebraska rifle team, notably winning the 2015 national smallbore championship. Additionally, she was an All-American in both air rifle and smallbore all four years of her career.

“As a former Husker, it is a great privilege to be returning to the University of Nebraska as the Head Rifle Coach,” Martin said in a press release. “It has always been my belief that the greatest of athletes not only excel in their sport, but dedicate their lives to positively impacting the world around them. I can say from experience that the University of Nebraska invests in the development of such individuals, and I am honored to be a part of that.”
