Air gun manufacturer Crosman recently announced that once again, it has been awarded the contract to be the official supplier of sporter class air rifles for the U.S. Army JROTC program. The Army plans to purchase more than 13,000 Challengers, adding to the over 4,000 rifles they bought in 2016. The air rifles will be built at Crosman world headquarters in Bloomfield, NY.

“For the past several years I’ve had the honor and privilege to work with the JROTC instructors and their cadets,” said Mark Deboard, shooting services manager for Crosman. “It is incredibly rewarding to know that our product helps them become better competitors.”

The Challenger is a popular sporter air rifle for competitive shooting programs throughout the country, including the Marine Corps JROTC, Army JROTC, Air Force JROTC, Navy JROTC, American Legion, NRA, and 4-H. A three-position competition rifle, it features a fully adjustable stock, two-stage adjustable match-grade trigger, hooded front aperture sight, micro click adjustable diopter rear sight, patented ambidextrous pull bolt, and a floating Lothar Walther barrel.

“The Crosman Challenger has long been the preferred air rifle for coaches from a variety of marksmanship programs,” said Jennifer Lambert, Crosman’s vice president of marketing and product development. “As the leading American manufacturer of air guns, we’re proud that the Army JROTC chose to continue our partnership and we can’t wait to see what new championships and records their cadets will achieve with the Challenger.”
