At SHOT Show 2022 last week, Taurus showcased its new TX22 Competition SCR (Steel Challenge Ready) rimfire pistol, which is a version of the TX22 platform geared towards the Steel Challenge discipline.

The TX22 Competition SCR builds on the original TX22 Competition model with its precision engineered slide and match-grade bull barrel. The slide, sporting an enlarged ejection port, is designed so that a red-dot optic can be mounted to the 5.25-inch barrel, and to help prevent any issue during ejection of empty shells. Two adapter plates, each including two mounting patterns, allow for mounting several popular red-dot sights.

Weight is 25.84 ounces. Overall length is 9.37 inches.

Two key upgrades make this pistol Steel Challenge ready. First is a TANDEMKROSS Game Changer Pro Squared Compensator with dual 45-degree-angle gas venting, which helps to mitigate recoil. Second is a TANDEMKROSS Eagle’s Talon extractor, precision machined from tool steel, with a positive hook for a reliable “grab” on the cartridge rim, reducing malfunctions during high-volume cycling.

Both of these factory upgrades, in conjunction with the TX22 Competition SCR’s high-polish custom feed ramp and target trigger system, deliver a semi-automatic rimfire pistol that is ready for Steel Challenge competition out of the box.

Perhaps best of all, this rimfire pistol comes in at under $600. MSRP for the new Taurus TX22 Competition Steel Challenge Ready is $589.32. Learn more at taurususa.com.
