The USA College Clay Target League, a new recreational clay target shooting sports program, will make its nationwide debut in September 2019. Student-athletes on college club teams will compete at local ranges and submit their scores online—making this a "virtual" league, similar to postal matches. The new league builds upon the success of the USA High School Clay Target League, which rapidly spread in popularity with high school students over the last five years.

There will be four classic clay shotgun sports available for student-athletes to enjoy: trap, skeet, sporting clays and five-stand. College club shotgun teams are free to compete in as many leagues as they wish. Teams will be divided into conferences not by location, but instead by the size of the team.

Each team is required to have at least five shooters, with no limits on how many student-athletes can be on the team. Additionally, in order to form a team there must be a head coach aged 18 or older, and the team must be approved by school administration as a registered student organization. Competition is co-ed, and is estimated to cost between $150-$250 per team member.

Beginning in September 2019, each team will compete in a 6-week season, with weekly 50-target matches. The team coach is responsible for submitting scores to the league's website. The no benchwarmer policy ensures that every team member will shoot their designated number of targets. Post-season awards will be sent to the top teams and individual shooters.

Thanks to this program going nationwide student-athletes will benefit, along with the schools themselves from the increased exposure that shooting sports teams will offer to their programs.
